About Kitchen Collective

Kitchen Collective is a nonprofit shared-use kitchen and event space located in Portsmouth, Ohio. Founded in 2024 by Julia Collier, Kitchen Collective provides a supportive environment for food entrepreneurs and the community.

A passionate advocate for community and food, Julia has spent most of her life in South Shore, Kentucky. Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, Julia’s love for building community and bringing people together has always been evident, especially when shared over a delicious meal.

Julia’s passion for food and cooking was nurtured at a young age, growing up in the kitchen alongside her mother, a caterer, and her grandmothers. These experiences instilled in her a love for culinary arts and a hands-on approach to cooking.

After earning her undergraduate degree in Community Health, Julia worked for the University of Kentucky, where she focused on community outreach and education. While working with families to teach food safety and conduct healthy cooking classes, Julia began to envision a community kitchen concept that would address the challenges faced by emerging food businesses. She recognized the need for affordable access to commercial kitchen space and equipment to support these aspiring entrepreneurs.
